How is his music mediocre? Perhaps you should back up your opinion. Coming Up Roses is a pretty terrible example of his work since lo-fi folk really only covers his first two albums and part of his third but calling it mediocre just shows you're pretty ignorant of that genre of music and wouldn't have liked it in the first place. Listen to this and tell me he's "mediocre at best." Elliott Smith is easily one of the most talented musicians of our era.

I said terrible example of his work because it represents a very small portion of his career and it isn't even the best of off his self-titled. The Biggest Lie, St. Ides Heaven, etc all better.

That's relevant how? It's still not as good as St Ides. Heaven, Alphabet Town or the Biggest Lie. Just because a million people heard it in the Royal Tenenbaums doesn't make it one of his best songs.

I was agreeing with you and then you went and tried to shove words in my mouth about me saying Coming Up Roses was terrible which wasn't what I said at all I just said it wasn't his best song and only represented a small portion of his music.
