The Sex Pistols changed everything. The gig that changed the world Free Trade Hall in Manchester June 4,1976
The Buzz****s,Tony Wilson,Morrissey,Joy Division,Mark E. Smith, and Adam Ant were all there. Syd Barret is not and will never be punk. The Pistols influenced so many bands where as Hendrix inspired guitar players. I'm gettin tired of this.

This needs to stop, Jimi Hendrix was much more influential, impactful, innovative and original than the Sex Pistols. That isn't up for debate, that's a fact.

Based on your post below, I think you did mean 'technical skill', rather than lyrical ability.

I meant they were bad and couldn't really play their instruments which is inspiring.

In the general scheme of things I deduce that Pink Floyd are better than the Sex Pistols. A little nugget for our younger members. The Damned released the track New Rose before any Pistols singles. Arguably this could be the first U.K punk record.

I think the thing about that is though is that it's a well known fact that the Damned opened for the Pistols so even though they put something out sooner the Pistols were first. I do think it was the first UK punk record, they just weren't the first UK punk band.

New Rose was the first british punk single. But The Pistols were formed before them
