Oh, oh.

I think I would consider Katy Perry my guilty pleasure.

Because of the definition of it, though. I don't feel guilty listening to her. I just wouldn't list her in my tops to define my taste in music.

Does that make sense?

That sounds like a perfect definition of a guilty pleasure... Kinda like me saying I like Jason Mraz, who is very much NOT in the core of artists I'd list as those who define my musical taste...

I think a guilty pleasure is basically something that you love... that you wouldn't really want tell all your friends about...

I guess it maybe kinda makes sense though...

I wouldn't feel awkward listing Jason Mraz.

Well not AS awkward.

It's always weird for me to list mainstream music, because that's what people define your music taste by.

I really disagree with labelling people, so I have a tendency not to do that, but I understand that alot of others do...

But really, human tastes are way to complex to pin down and attach one artist to....

Oh I was just saying that if you know someone likes a certain artist or style of music, they're more than likely to also like something completely different at the same time... so we shouldn't characterize people according to their tastes..... ya know?

I understand what you mean. I think you might have mistaken my statement for me being judgmental.

I mean when someone asks me what type of music I like, I'm not likely to list Katy Perry, because I want to give them a list of music that generalizes my taste... and I don't listen to much music like hers.

A-ha's "Take On Me" is one of the best pop songs of the 80's... and I can't ever listen to it while someone else is in the room.

Hey as much as I am not huge on Ah Ha, Take On Me had that big chorus and the catchy verses to grab even hardened cynics like me anytime...
