I definitely agree the Beatles are overrated...went with Nirvana, and I still totally appreciate and realize everything the Beatles have done for rock music but I believe Nirvana was better and more enjoyable to listen too
|
and Nirvana are'nt overated either?
Nirvana simplified= Pixies+Black Sabbath+Black Flag=Nirvana. Beatles simplified= Rock n roll +....ermm....ermm...themselves?=Beatles. |

WHY are they perfect? I have never come across ANY band that are perfect. Ever.

So you admit that those three (admittedly) great bands created Nirvana yet The Beatles only had Rock n Roll to build their sound upon.
|
The Beatles were more of a pop band...but I will admit I don't own any records and have only heard one Beatles song, so I can't say much about them.

How is it shit if you have never heard their music. Keep digging you are falling deeper into the abyss here. If you dislike The Beatles and have a concise and intelligent response for not liking them, then fair enough. The Beatles would struggle to make a fave top 20 of mine but when you are just throwing random remarks out to look cool you end up looking foolish.

They're played everywhere And being a pop band has nothing to do with how good they were And Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club is one of the most amazing records I've ever listened to ever |
@jackhammer I was only joking but, seriously i don't have any money right now.
@lizzie I've only heard Come Together since we had to learn it in my guitar class. And I don't listen to the Radio. |
Yeah, but on TV, anytime I go out, or just leave the house, I hear the Beatles songs
Like seriously, listen to St. Peppers, it's just amazing |

This is called the interwebs.

Why put the Beatles up there? Everyone loves them, so you know their going to win. Give some other artists a chance.
|

Whenever Elliott Smith fans insult the Beatles I can't help but think it's pretty fucking stupid considering they were his biggest influence.
|
jesus maybe you should of read my post after that. I was joking!
|
the beatles were great in their own right, but the chili peppers are in a league of the own. in a league where everything is made of gold and there a naked girls and free beer everywhere. And that is the league that I like.
|
I chose not to vote... I prefer Red Hot Chili Peppers the most, but The Beatles were geniuses considering the era they came from. I couldn't decide who deserved the vote.

Edit* And I heart the beatles. FTW!! |

No I really haven't. But I do know the band members that's about it.
|
You haven't lived until you've heard "I Want You (She's So Heavy)".
...well, you have, but you should still hear it. The last few minutes are like...doom metal even before Sabbath. |

Well they're kinda varied so it's hard to say, but uhm...the self-titled ("The White Album") is probably a decent place to start. Either that or Abbey Road. Ah hell, I don't know. They never really released any bad records, aside from the first few.
A lot of people seem to think Revolver is their overall best album, but I could never see what was so good about it. Of all their post-Help! material, I think Revolver is actually my least favourite record. Hell, I'd rather listen to Let It Be than Revolver. And Let It Be isn't even that good. Mainly because they didn't include "Don't Let Me Down", which is like, my favourite Beatles song. That and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away". And a couple others from The White Album. Oh, and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", obviously. But yeah, check pretty much anything they recorded after '64 out. |
start with Rubber Soul, it's the first really good Beatles album for people who aren't familiar with them. Then proceed to be amazed as you work your way up from there, right up to Abbey Road (containing the aforementioned She's So Heavy).
Oh and the difference between Let It Be and Revolver is that Revolver is one of the greatest albums ever made, and Let It Be is the final rhythm n' blues re-hash guff of the Beatles before they expired. |
