Pitchfork Music Festival 08

Normally I don't care about their generally boring and typical hipster line up but how cool is this: "Public Enemy performing It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back."

Details here.

Frewen 03-11-2008 08:12 AM

That's immense, although ATP put on a heck of a lot of good shows so I'm not surprised...

tkpb938 03-11-2008 08:46 AM

Ya thats pretty cool. They also have animal collective and vampire weekend which aren't half-bad acts IMO.

TheBig3 03-11-2008 08:51 AM

I'd go for saturday. Sunday looks like nothing I'd be interested in, but this is their first right? You have to start somewhere.

Aren't their line-ups usually pretty solid and varied?

At any rate, it'd be awesome to see Public Enemy perform that live.

They're line-ups seem to consist of the overrated (and for the most part) completely mediocre indie acts they've hyped over that year.

mr. goth glam 03-11-2008 08:55 PM

Yeah, I think I'd be willing to go just for that as well.

I tend to just ignore Pitchfork for the most part.

Though I do usually check out their picks for top albums of the year, if only as a curiosity factor.

GravitySlips 03-11-2008 09:51 PM

I am already seeing Public Enemy doing that album live.

I've seen most of the other bands already. I am more hip than pitchfork, and certainly more hip than YOU. Good-day.

sleepy jack 03-11-2008 10:37 PM

No you aren't, I touch myself to Kim Deal while listening to a mix tape I made of Radiohead's b-sides and then wipe it up with a local alternative rock zine.

They're playing the whole album in its entirety?

sleepy jack 03-11-2008 10:42 PM

Yes.

*Sigh* I would love to see Boris though...

cardboard adolescent 03-12-2008 12:19 PM

dammit why is there no two day pass for friday and sunday?!

pheurton 03-12-2008 03:04 PM

srsly if I get a ticket over there
would anyone house me who's going and lives fairly near?

cardboard adolescent 03-12-2008 03:36 PM

lol i would if i have a place to live at that point
just so long as you don't expect to be treated as a human being

Molecules 03-12-2008 03:49 PM

seems to be a bit of a trend of late - acts playing their classic albums in their entirety - Stooges 'Fun House', Sebadoh 'Bakesale, Raekwon 'cuban linx'. Sure there are others I've forgotten.
'it takes a nation...' would be absolutely mental, it's such a layered sound. 'Night of the living baseheads' would be alot

GravitySlips 03-12-2008 03:51 PM

It's all part of that ATP Don't Look Back thing. It certainly is becoming a trend though.

I betcha Pavement will do Slanted & Enchanted in its entirety within the next 5 years.

Molecules 03-12-2008 03:56 PM

i'd put money on that. oh yeah and i think Dino Jr did 'living all over me'? it all fits

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-12-2008 04:19 PM

I'd love the chance to hear PE play a classic album in it's entirety AND get to laugh at a bunch of hipsters in one evening.

Vampire Weekend .... lolololololololololoololololololooolololololololol ololololol

cardboard adolescent 03-28-2008 06:16 PM

OMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFG
first i get to see public enemy perform nation of millions
and then mission of burma play all of VS?!!!

oh god i just came all over my computer

dinosaur jr, ghostface and raekwon have all also been announced
i think after those three days are through i can die a happy man

I can live off weed and scrabble for weeks.

cardboard adolescent 03-28-2008 06:25 PM

i really don't see it being a problem,
i'll probably have my own place at that point.
you'll have to bring the scrabble board though.

pheurton 03-28-2008 06:29 PM

Lets just hope I win the lottery in time.

jacklovezhimself 04-03-2008 08:10 PM

Yeah I'm seeing King Khan there. Once in a life time!!!

anyone?

analogtones 04-13-2008 08:43 AM

damn wish i could make it!

cardboard adolescent 04-22-2008 08:16 PM

ATP just announced ATP NY which sounds absolutely astonishing: Meat Puppets playing II, Tortoise playing Millions Now Living, plus Shellac, MBV, Low and Polvo... tickets are hella expensive and it's out in the middle of nowhere somewhere. All of those bands really need to get confirmed for Pitchfork.

Rainard Jalen 04-23-2008 01:36 AM

I mean, they had Sonic Youth do the whole of Daydream Nation last year. That's pretty immense too.
