Counting music

Hi, im creating a program that plays back music. But what I cant figure out is how much time is elapsed when 1/16th note is played, til the next...If there's a math equation, it'd really help...I cant seem to wrap my head around 80bpm, and calculating how often to play a 16th note... Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It's a variable that's contingent on the BPM, and, i'm guessing here, the time signature. I'm no mathematician, but it would seem you might be able to find a formula on the web with enough digging.

You have to take into consideration BPM so we know how fast the song is, and the time signature to know how to accurately read where the beats actually correlate with the speed of the song. I'm not a mathematician but I do remember from talking to a guitar instructor that with imperfect time signatures (4/4, 2/2 and 8/8 most commonly) that straight 16th notes will land directly on the minute mark which I'd assume would make it easier.
