If not love it, appreciate it. While saying it was a major leap forward for music is arguable, it was definitely an amazing step forward for the band, one that I don't think anybody can justly deny.

In terms of challenging people's ideas of what they would and wouldn't listen to, it was an interesting experiment.

I worded that sentence wrong, so excuse what looks like a bash on Kid A. I meant that while I do like the album, there are songs I just never really listen to. It's probably the only album I haven't repeatedly put on, though there are certain songs that I have.

Yea but Radiohead thinks every album they make is the best thing they've ever made... and HTTT was definitely not better than OKC.

Still... excitement! i also think the sound will be closer to twisted words, and not the Harry Patch. i read that that song was a one-off thing.

Twisted Words has definitely grown on me and I would rank it higher than anything on HTTT and a lot of In Rainbows. I still maintain that Amnesiac is the best thing they've ever done.

nope. i've said it many times before in other threads. Kid A was meh, too much 'experimenting' for the sake of being 'experimental' and not enough about writing great songs.

i put Kid A and Amnesiac on the same level as the Use Your Illusion albums by GnR, only Radiohead got lucky and didn't implode following the release of their hubris. basically they're both two albums that really REALLY should have only been one. strip the filler from both and put all the good stuff on one disc and you would have had a GREAT album from start to finish, no skipping, and tons of material for b-sides/rarities/collectibles for the hardcore fans.

and the whole angle that Kid A was a great step forward for both the band and listeners reflects rather poorly on the listener.

I realized today that I've been singing the wrong words to Idioteque for years.

The real lyrics:
Who's in a bunker?
Who's in a bunker?
Women and children first
And the children first
And the children
I laugh until my head comes off
I swallow till I burst
Until I burst
Until I...

My version:
Losing bunker
Losing bunker
Women and children first
And the children first
And the children
I laugh until my head comes off
And swell until I burst
Until I burst
Until I...

It's not that bad but I'm still pretty embarrassed about it.

Anything on HTTT? Even Wolf At The Door? And 2+2=5? AND Myxomatosis?? That's a bit... extreme. Personally, my favourite albums are a tie between In Rainbows and OKC. Amnesiac, was ok, but it was mostly just a second take of Kid A. I agree with mr dave- combine the best stuff from both albums and you'll have an album that is one of Radiohead's best, if not THE best.

That said, I think it was necessary for Radiohead to go through that 'experimental' stage, for them to progress and release music like Twisted Words and Harry Patch
