@enemyatthesix - you've just rattled the hornets nest of indie fans. Quick appease them, say you were just kidding and Elliot Smith is the god of the universe.

No but really guys, he shouldn't have to give a reason. Elliot Smith is considered by most to be an extremely good artist, but that doesn't mean that everyone likes confessional singer/songwriter music... I sure don't.

well, they can't help it. to help himself go to sleep at night, sweet nothing daydreams about licking the testicles of ES's corpse. and he damn sure won't stand for having that fantasy invalidated by the fact that (OMG) someone isn't a fan
