Flamethrowers At The Ready

Quote:

Noel Gallagher has criticised the decision to have a hip-hop act headlining the Glastonbury Festival.

The Oasis guitarist said having rapper Jay-Z at the festival was the reason tickets had not sold out this year.

He said it was "wrong" to have a hip-hop headliner and added that organisers had changed things too much.

There were 100,000 tickets sold for Glastonbury on the first day, but in past years all tickets had sold out in a matter of hours.

Gallagher said: "If it ain't broke don't fix it.

"If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.

"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?'

"I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

Oasis headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 1995 and 2004, with the event selling out on both occasions.

Aaaaaaaand Go.......

Jay Z is more talented than Noel Gallagher...nuff said.

I really dont like him, as a musician and as a person.

NG is about in touch with things as my father-I.E is'nt.

I do agree with him on one point

If you can't sell out Glastonbury something is seriously wrong.

I don't think that's anything to do with hip hop. Choice of headline artist maybe , but nothing to do with the genre of music they play.

Noel's probably just in a piss cause Liam still refuses to sleep with him.

Noel's a douchebag but if I could find information on the British charts than maybe he could be right. I mean over here Jay-Z would sell out a festival but correct me if I'm wrong isn't stuff like The Kooks popular over there? If that's the case than okay yeah I can see what he's saying about guitar rock being a wiser choice but only because of popularity reasons.

simplephysics 04-16-2008 09:13 PM

I still can't believe that Rolling Stone named Roc Boys song of the year.

sleepy jack 04-16-2008 09:16 PM

The Rolling Stone also put Britney Spears in their top 50 albums of 2007.

simplephysics 04-16-2008 09:21 PM

Ahh good point. A really depressing, dissapointing point.

sleepy jack 04-16-2008 09:22 PM

The Rolling Stone is an awful awful awful magazine desperately trying to stay hip and relevant by championing some of the most banal crap ever. They're the only magazine I know besides crap like Alternative Press that would give Fall Out Boy critical acclaim.
