I don't think that is laughable at all.

I think you're overstating Odelays impact just a little.

Quote:
Yeah I replied saying it was irrelevant because you don't even know my opinion on those three albums. The Beatles obviously had more impact than the Velvets because the Beatles are probably the most popular band in the world but we're comparing two bands of similar popularity Beck and the Smashing Pumpkins. Odelay introduced something brand new to the music world and your argument for Siamese Dream is raised the bar...for one music scene.
Yes you're comparing 2 artists of near equal popularity, but you're saying one is more important than the other becauses hes more original. I think what you really mean is you prefer his musical style over the other.

Quote:
I wouldn't disagree with Siamese Dream ending up on a best album of the 90s list, I never said I would even though I don't like it. I would disagree with it being placed higher than Loveless and Odelay.
If we're talking "greatest" then maybe you're right, but "best" could be interpreted to mean just personal opinion.

Do you think the Smashing Pumpkins are more important than My Bloody Valentine than?

It's had quite a bit of impact I think, I would expand on this but if you're not going to expand on your opinions you're just going to post the opposite opinion and not add anything on I'll do the same.

I don't think that's a far fetched thing to do. If two albums were just as popular as eachother and therefore had the same amount of reach and one was obviously more groundbreaking what's wrong with considering that one more important?

Oh christ, greatest=best I was talking the same sort of list, are they really that different? How pointlessly anal you can be is ridiculous sometimes.

No.

They are good, but their goodness is very overstated here.
