Best Artist: Round 2: Poll G
Polls open for two days, only 17 polls this time around, vote for your favorite etc etc etc.
I vote for Public Enemy. |
Rush FTW!
Nirvana, Public Enemy veeeeeery close 2nd though.
I'm going to vote on the one band that revolutionized music in the late 80s - early 90s and who shaped the way music became during the decade that followed.
Public Enemy |
Nirvana
This is a really good poll. I have honestly never listened to Tom Petty though. Bloc Party is good, but they are the least innovative of the ones up there that I know of. I don't see Nirvana as the most innovative band either. Their really punky grunge was good, but I do see SOME similarity to Mudhoney. I find that Nirvana was a mix of Mudhoney and the Pixies with sludgy riff influence from The Melvins. Then you have Rush and Public Enemy. Rush is good, but the instrumental masturbation can be too much for me sometimes and I feel that Geddy goes too far sometimes. Neil, however, does exactly what he needs to do. Public Enemy is one of my favorite rap artists and they did innovate rap and influence a ton of rap artists to be more political. Not to mention, the Chuck D - Flava Flav thing going on cannot, truly, be found anywhere else. However, they did not really focus on the music so much as they did the lyrics, and the vocals were a bit dominant, but that it rap music or you. So who will it be...
Rush, but only because they were a bit more before their time than Public Enemy. This was a really tough one for me, personally. |
The people here who voted for Rush need to get their ears checked, then come back and vote for either Nirvana, Public Enemy, or Tom Petty. Those were the contenders for me. Since Tom Petty had the least number of votes, I went with him. By the way, this poll is way too stacked compared to Poll H, which had only one serious contender: Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Rush, but Nirvana or Public Enemy would be second.
Nirvana!
Nirvana or Bloc Party? Nirvana =\
Public Enemy is gonna shut 'em down
P.E. In the house!
giving Tom Petty some love
Nrivana
Rush, i really like both Nirvana and P.E. my deciding factor was, Geddy lee and because he lives in my area, or at least he use to, haven't seen him in a while.

Everybody's Got To Deviate From The Norm
I voted for Nirvana. I know Nirvana were obviously not as technically gifted as Rush but Nirvana have always meant something to me since i was 11 years old. They were one of the bands that got me seriously into music and i'm very grateful for that :D
*is a closet Tom Petty fan*
it's obvious.. it's Nirvana...=D

I love Bloc Party's debut but it is a mish mash of various indie guitar bands. Nirvana I very very rarely listen to anymore, so that says enough. Rush have done some amazing stuff but they have been dead in the water over 15 years now. I like Tom Petty but I personally would'nt have him high in my list as his music is not exactly groundbreaking so Public Enemy for me.
Ethan needs to stop saying who he is voting for, methinks its influencing a lot of people. -_-
I have to say, I've been getting that vibe as well.... Or maybe he just votes for the most popular band every single time. Who knows :\
Yes because Public Enemy are really running away with this one.
And I only voted for them to look cool. |
Doh... >_<
