Joe Jackson

How come he never comes up here

Any fans or even anyone familiar with his stuff?

Son of JayJamJah 05-06-2008 10:00 PM

He's not new

His best stuff is from the late 70's and early 80's

you're thinking of someone else

Smacks head. Sorryz. I like Joe Jackson.

I love Joe Jackson... well, at least I really love 3 of his most popular songs. I was just barely too young to remember his first hit, but I do remember the 2 hit songs he had in the early 80's - he had a cool style then. Very elegant & refined looking, I still adore his song Stepping Out - I will play it over & over again on my IPod sometimes.

My dad used to sing along with 'stepping out' and would always try to get me to dig it. like the type of singing with running in place and a slow raising of outstretched arms with the chorus. I thought he was ***, my dad

does this song one of his? "Be my number 2"? I'm not quite sure actually =)

I got his best of a couple of weeks ago for the princely sum of 1.49-that's pounds BTW. His early chart tracks hold good memories for me. Nothing spectacular but great lyrics.

It's Different For Girls is a great tune.
Never really took to Joe Jackson though, he reminds me of a mass murderer for some reason.

Son of JayJamJah 05-14-2009 08:56 PM

He's not a mass murderer and this thread gets a bump

I haven't got into his stuff as much as I'd like to, but Night and Day is a terrific album. It is about all I've heard of him though.

I think it's his best. The early stuff is by far superior.

Yay! Like his stuff, it's pretty undefinable genrewise borrowing from punk in some areas. I had the double live alum he released that contains about 4 concerts including a great acapella version of "Is she really going out with him" with some choir. What's happened to him, seems to have dropped off the radar.

terrible singing voice.

Son of JayJamJah 06-29-2009 01:32 PM

I think you are ugly then.

I like Jackson's voice, it stands out and sort of reminds me of Elvis Costello in that it's a signature of his style.

SATCHMO 06-29-2009 01:37 PM

I like JJ. Night and Day is very underrated.

WWWP 06-29-2009 02:15 PM

Is She Really Going Out With Him rules. That's about all I've heard of his though.

ja_music 07-21-2009 09:48 AM

I still like his song "Stepping Out."

ikvat 03-18-2010 01:07 PM

Night and Day is a master piece of the Brit pop.
