My favorite genre is pop-punk, and I tend to be a loose, crazy, and open minded person, so I would think so.

I got into punk period when I was like 10 or 11 because I needed some stuff to listen to when I skateboarded. The Clash was the band that got me into punk.

I listen to a lot of stuff, but really, whatever I'm focusing on depends on where my mind is at in my writing.

Like, right now, I'm listening to a lot of Dylan's later albums, a lot of Tom Waits, John Lee Hooker, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Bruce Sringsteen.

But really, it can be damn near anything in a given moment. Today, for example, I listened to Dylan, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Iggy Pop, Dwight Yokam and Black Sabbath.

I work anywhere from four to six hours a day, plus Internet stuff (and the magazine), so I generally have time to listen to a lot of stuff.

I do think that both indie AND prog tend to attract more oddball-sort personalities. By that I don't mean "weird" or "loser", just people who are perhaps a little on the eccentric side and possess certain outlooks on the world that aren't at all typical of society.
