I question the only Rolling Stones song on there being one of their most anonymous songs. I mean Can't You Hear Me Knocking ? Hell i'm a Stones fanboy & I can't even remember the last time I bothered listening to that song. And to have it ahead of Brown Sugar , Paint It Black , Satisfaction or Honky Tonk Woman is madness.

And The Stooges song should be No Fun or TV Eye

And as for the Yardbirds , Happenings Ten Years Time ago is much better than Over Under Sideways Down.

I think you make an important point there though, its not always what they've left out thats upsetting but that they picked something from a badns catalouge over another.

And the criteria for a "guitar song" is a little suspicious because it starts to contradict itself.

Vicarious from Tool is on there. The 100 spot is the most overlooked placement because "well they did make it 100 after all"

So what, TOOL has never been a guitar band and what about Vicarious over other tool songs, or even other songs off of 10,000 Days is more "guitar" than others?

And how does a band like Metallica, which has countless tracks with intricate guitar work OR monster riffs; a band that has a simplistic albeit intense drummer and an album sans bass only get one song.

I'm not calling for 14 tracks from them to be put up but I think even when you talk about bands with better songs, they don't have better guitar. And that is what we're talking about isn't it?

Lists such as these will never placate everyone; consequently, I don't take a huge amount of interest in them.

It's impossible to satisfy the masses. I like them as fodder but little more.

Well, lists liek these are always oing to get ridiculed for some small reasom or another. But I would take an intrest in just glancing at it, they give a different perspective of what other people consider great. I mean it IS a very broad topic to cover so it is going to have flaws. But Glancing at these types of lists just goives you what other people think are great....Liek JayJam Jah said, you can't always please the masses.

Urban 100 is a far more well written and informative piece of writing than these banal lists.

The thing I hate about lists is that they tell you nothing.

OK so Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode is the best guitar song ever. Why is that?

What makes it better than Purple Haze in 2nd why even choose those songs anyway.

I think Eruption is responsible for some of the worst showy off soulless music ever pressed onto vinyl so why is that so high & apparently better than most other bands that has inspired feeling & emotion rather than just tuneless showing off ? And please bear in mind that I don't actually mind Roth era Van Halen either so it's not exactly a hugely biased opinion.

I've always though if you want to rate something at least explain your reasons for rating them no matter how silly or trivial.

Urban 100 is a personal project done out of interest and passion, this list is done as a cop out to meet a deadline.

Urban 100 is a personal project done out of interest and passion, and trying to avoid doing any proper work :D
