One of the best songs ever written, a famous video starring Donald Sutherland as Wilhelm Reich. Wonder if I'm the only one who feels that the 7-minute single version is artificially stretched and the section around 3 min where she just intones "it's me and you daddy" kinda hampers the song's dramatic buildup? It's obvious why she had to stretch it to accommodate the video/short film but in purely musical terms it's a less than ideal compromise.

I love that song

I would venture to suggest that more of Kate Bush can never be considered a bad thing...

Anyway this is the guy who Sutherland plays in the video

A song I adore, but which is seldom mentioned (underrated?), is Deeper Understanding from The Sensual World.

The song takes the perspective of someone who retreats socially/isolates to instead spend time with their computer and a program that they can talk to. The album is from 1989, so it seems weirdly prescient of her. She somehow tapped into this human condition from really early on and before there really were many real world examples of this.

The song features the bulgarka trio of bulgarian singers in a way that is just tremendous imo.

While I'm posting, I might as well mention that my favourite song of hers the last many years has been Hello Earth from Hounds of Love. One of the reasons was me and my wife (being HUGE fans) went to see her string of concerts at the apollo in London in 2014.

The concert was, for me, the experience of a lifetime and Hello Earth was just.. incredible. I was crying my eyes out at the end of it and never had a concert experience or even musical experience like that before or since.

So since then, this song holds a special place in my heart :)

My memory of Hello Earth is when I was stuck doing construction/demolition with my dad and trying to fight through the worst bout of depression I've ever had, and I would come home and collapse in bed and shut my eyes and listen to the whole Ninth Wave suite and I'd cry and it'd make everything a little better.

Really love Kate Bush's cover of that Viper track.

Before this whole Stranger Things thing (I don't know the show), I heard a cover of Cloudbusting. That was my introduction to her. Great voice.

This work by Kate denotes the experience of searching for a new sound, in which she explores rhythms linked to rock and roll.
The result of this work is stimulating, which shows us a new path perfectly compatible with Kate's talent.

Im glad to see Kate's music getting some much needed attention. I always hear people saying that they love Kate Bush but none of them have her music on any of their playlists. I have her first five albums on my music library iTunes. Better late than never, eh Kate?

Here's a cracking remix of "Running Up That Hill" for those that haven't heard it.

This was already a hit back in the 80s, so "never" isn't really appropriate.

Also you should check out some of her later albums. You'd probably like something off Sensual World, perhaps also Aerial and 50 Words for Snow.

Edit:

I don't care for remixes, but at least maybe they'll generate some royalties for her.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm going to say it anyway...

While I love some of her songs, I don't rate her much as a music artist.

I evaluate artists by the strength of their albums but, sadly, none of her albums work from beginning to end for me. The closest one was probably The Hounds of Love but most of side two left me nonplussed.

I also don't like her once heavy reliance on dinosaur rock and tacky synth sounds.
