I'm looking for a group that sounds like Electric Light Orchestra, sounding larger than they really are.

Default Looking for a specific kind of music

I do know about the stickied recommendations thread in this forum, but I'm trying to get as many recommendations as possible; so I feel that I would probably have more success if this was a separate thread.

With that out of the way, let's get to my current problem. I too am working on a project that requires music. It's a little difficult for me to describe what I'm looking for, but I'll try my best. I'm looking for music that is reminiscent of nature (it's fine if it includes samples of nature, but I don't want it to consist solely of such), with action to it (so ambient is out). And I'd like a suspenseful feel to it with a resolution at the end. The closest I've heard so far is "Mbira" by Robert Rich but it's missing the suspense+resolution criteria.

Any pieces/artists/genres I should look at?

You could use winamp. Idk what other newer ones are out there but I used to use it heavily in the past.

Does anybody know any songs like these ones?

Rihanna - Cockiness (Jake Million Remix)

Ciara - I'm Out (Sweater Beats Bootyleg)

Miguel - ...All (Kastle Remix)

Sexy smooth with some low pitched vocals doesn't really matter the genre just stuff as close to this as possible cheers

I like some dance music, but can't find more similar to the stuff I already like.

Any dance artists similar to these:
Calvin Harris
Swedish House Mafia
Example
Chase & Status
Nero

And no I don't like Avicii so please don't suggest him.

5. Ambient/Electronic sounds and synths

calcol, when I saw your post I immediately thought of Chelsea Wolfe. She is a singer-songwriter with a somewhat gothic vibe and lyrics. Now, I don't believe that she meets all of your criteria in a single song, but she has used all of the things you mentioned at least once each.

The "Strings/Orchestra" bit: She has never used a full orchestra but there are some strings on her "Pain Is Beauty" album that came out this September and the 2012 compilation album "Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs".

Piano: She doesn't use the piano very often, but on the song "The Waves Have Come" from Pain Is Beauty, there is a pretty prominent piano throughout most of the track (and also some strings).

"Rock/Metal guitars, bass, drums": For this I would look to her 2011 album "Apokalypsis". Pretty much all of the songs on that album has this, although I would consider it more "Rock" than "Metal", but there has been cited slight Metal influences to this album as well.

"Ambient/Electronic sounds and synths": This is for the most-part only prevalent on Pain Is Beauty, especially in songs like "Feral Love", "The Warden" and "Sick". (The closing track on Apokalypsis is an ambient soundscape, though.)

"Gothic/Dark atmosphere and lyrics": Well she definitely meets this criteria... almost all the time... but I also think she is a somewhat unconventional gothic artist who is not terribly clichéd in any way, and I definitely recommend her to you, although she, as I said, doesn't have all the things you mentioned within one single track.

edit: Sorry for late reply btw.

Something like pop-punk or so. Something like Ramones or early Green Day (Dookie/Kerplunk). So catchy, goodtime music. I want more this. It makes me feel good.
But please no hardcorepunk or something like that.
Fast, catchy, short simple songs that will give one a smile when one listens to them.

Okay nobody can be better in this category than the Ramones, but still. And also, I hope it more pop than punk, which means that it is more than just chaotic noise.
