I love Iron Butterfly and ELP. I really dig the mellotron and the use of organs in music in general. I'm a fan of Type O Negative, Ghost and Blood Ceremony. What would you recommend in both metal/rock that has these elements?

For that Type O and Blood Ceremony thing, Briton Rites are a good B-rate band.

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus is one of the most atmospheric doom metal records of all-time. Should be right up your alley for Blood Ceremony.

Paradise Lost started life as a death/doom band (much like Katatonia) but by this point were more goth metal, sort of like a sad sack version of Metallica.

Some death metal vocals (but not too abrasive), but otherwise this is pure atmospheric doom (like Type O and Blood Ceremony).

Acid Bath's record company kills all their album song videos as soon as they pop up, so this is the best I can do for this song. The album version is much more atmospheric, but this works I guess. A sludge band playing goth rock.

I was familiar with Paradise Lost but not that era. Thanks for all the recommendations! I will be looking further into these!

Looking for Arabic music

I'm part of a production of Arabian Nights, and I'm looking for some arabic instrumental music to play at various points during the play. I have a few guitarists, a piano player, a ukelele, a cello, a flute, a clarinet and a bass clarinet on hand. Something more simple would be nice, since we all have homework and stuff and not too much time to practice. Thanks!

Just popping in to ask for suggestions on anything even vaguely like Clap! Clap!, Machinedrum, early Death Grips, or basically any other weirdo cut-and-paste, percussion-heavy artist. It better bounce.

Are you the dude who went to South America for a missionary thing, moved to St. Louis, and then got married?
