song suggestions
I'm looking for some songs that are like The Call of Ktulu, Orion, Suicide & Redemption, and To Live is To Die by Metallica. If your familiar with those songs or if your not, there basically just 10min of just straight Instrumental music, which I love. It would be helpful if you guys could point me out to some other bands that might have some songs like these.

Hello! + genre question
Hi, My name is Joseph. Currently residing in Canada..
A question if I can regarding genre(could find a proper forum to post this in). I'm primarily a Pink Floyd/Roger Waters fan, who also enjoys The beetles, The doors, Queen, Echo and the bunnymen. Normally older music, and normally fairly relaxed. I cannot stand today's "hip hop" or "pop" with all the negativity and what feels like forced lyrics. I'm looking for a particular genre with a "take you along" for the ride kind of feel to it. An attribute I find Floyd and Roger Waters has captured far better than anything else I've listened to thus far. As well, I'm overplaying too many of my favorite songs which is taking the feel away from them-making them too predictable-. Which is why I'm desperately looking for a few new bands. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Welcome to music banter!
I can't reccomend a single genre for that "taking you along for a ride" kind of feeling, but concept albums that tell stories usually do it for me. My reccomendations would be: -De-loused in the Comatorium- The Mars Volta -2112-Rush (not necessarily a concept album, but has a 20 minute song that tells you a story, which should satisfy) |
musicbanter.com, even though they are a bunch of ****s.

sounds like you're looking for psychedelic hippie rock.

Yep, if you can get over the elitism, pretentiousness and a burgeoning population of phillistines, this is the place
