You guys think your local radio sucks? If I hear 'Wicked Game' I swear I'll kill myself or Chris Isaac. But that's why I got XM, satellite radio bitches get it.

I that's their biggest problem, they play the same two songs from an album over and over until it makes your head explode. I wish they would at least play some stuff you've never heard before in between the top ten commercialized garbage songs of the week.

Much of '70s punk was pop-punk...the Buzz****s, Ramones, Rezillos, X-Rays, Boomtown Rats, etc. Even the Sex Pistols were essentially pop hooks with "punk attitude."

Pop-punk isn't inherently bad. It's just that Green Day and their spawn (Blink 182, Good Charlotte, etc) are much much worse.

Early Green Day and The Offspring weren't bad at all. Dookie and Smash were iconic albums and deserved respect in their own right. They should have just...given up years ago.

I also like Against Me!, no matter how many people here hate them, but I'm not sure how "pop" they are...

I think Dookie is very overrated, but I agree that those two bands weren't bad. I simply said they were much worse than the '70s groups I mentioned, which they definitely were in my opinion.

Also, on a separate note, I don't really consider Green Day punk. In fact, they're almost the antithesis of punk. Punk, in my opinion, is about angst (not necessarily anger) and energy. Green Day wasn't at all angsty, they were about middle class, suburban ennui. In my opinion, Green Day kicked off the "adult alternative" movement...bands like the Gin Blossoms, Del Amitri, Toad The Wet Sprocket, etc. Blink 182, Yellow Card and Good Charlotte fit right into that, even though they're called "pop-punk."

But I recognize that everyone has a different idea of what "punk" is...the most fruitless arguments tend to be arguing over a definition of it.

I would'nt call Del Amitri Alternative at all. Just middle of the road dad rock personally.

How hilarious is it that the software on this site censored that?
