Austin City Limits Music Festival : September 26-28, 2008 : Austin, TX : Zilker Park

I srsly can't wait, it's going to be an epic weekend. The ones i'm really looking forward to seeing are Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Jenny Lewis, Conor Oberst, and Vampire Weekend. This is my first festival so anything I should expect?

Fyrenza 09-20-2008 01:37 AM

you smoke right?

expect a lot of that

are you going to be staying in town a couple of days or just in and out?

my son does marley fest every year in austin so i will ask him about what to do and where to go for you

im not sure if he does the music fest

Tomorrow 09-20-2008 01:41 AM

Not me! I'm pretty sure I don't care for any of those bands, oh well. And Foo Fighters ... boo-urns. I will be hitting up Fun Fun Fun Fest this year though! Stage 3 is hot sex.

sweet_nothing 09-20-2008 05:50 PM

I'll be staying with some friends that entire weekend. But I dont smoke alot, well depends.

Fyrenza 09-21-2008 04:37 AM

thats what they all say

with a friend that lives in town you should be set

my son says that south-by-south-west (SXSW) happens around marley fest time and that its a better scene but i expect you plan to do that next april anyway

sweet_nothing 09-22-2008 12:38 AM

Of course I went to last years SXSW and I've never had more fun.

kida 09-22-2008 04:05 PM

I try to go to as many festivals as I can and I was pleasantly surprised with ACL this year. Top three shows: Vampire Weekend, Alejandro Escovedo, and m. ward. I am going down to South Padre at the end of next month to see Alejandro again. If you have never been to the SPI Fest check it out. Its like SXSW but with better weather and no dust!

Fyrenza 09-29-2008 11:27 AM

hot damn

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...p3-smaller.jpg

another killer line-up

joyboyo53 09-29-2008 05:37 PM

i went to acl this year as i have the past 4-5 years and i have to say i was (as expected) a little disappointed. dont get me wrong, i liked the bands i saw, and i still love acl weekend. i was only able to make it on saturday this year which was unfortunate, and although i would have loved to see some of the others (nerd)... i already have seen most of the people i would goto on friday or sunday.

beck didnt even encore and he was the last on that stage of the night.... weak sauce (although the performance of 'hell yeah' was awesome).

i enjoyed man man alright but everyone built them up so much i actually expected a little more. maybe it was the austin heat

mgmt was pretty good, but i cant begin to sit down and enjoy them without some fanboy telling me they are the best thing on the face of the earth.

this was by in large my least favorite acl, but i am sure they will make it up next year with a badass lineup, kinda hard not to beat foo fighters...

i just dig anywhere that's hot and dry but low on humidity (i assume?)... when we get a good summers in the UK it's often just sticky and unpleasant...
