Compare (can`t post links yet) any of their new wave stuff like It`s My Life (off the album of the same name) with their later post-rock stuff like Ascension Day (off of Laughing Stock).

Exactly what I was thinking. Let's put it this way...

Before;

After;

Who would have thought just a few years later this man would be singing tender soulful ballads.

i'd never really given Bowie a good listen ~ he was overplayed in ALL of my days(!) ~ but that very first one and the one with the link, i like.

Is that Indie/Pop, or what?

Who would guess that Eric Clapton (the post-1972 incarnation) made one of rock's great double albums (Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs)?

And then there's Stevie Winwood...

And post-Sun Elvis...

It's a long way down from Live At Leeds to Who Are You?

Brand New really changed sounds with "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside." At least IMO, I liked the change.

And Panic! At The Disco absolutely FAILED with their new CD. They changed from a caberet sort of sound to crappy indie-but-not-really-indie shiit.

I agree about Brand New, I like all their albums, but there's no comparison between them.
