Yeah, but as I mentioned it's the regression of optimism at every album.
There isn't a lot of it, but there's sure more than there is in Daisy. TDAG is in my Top 10 all time faves. |
yeah, I see what you mean.
TDAG is certainly one of my favorites too. |
Probably going to listen to Your Favourite Weapon later.
I've been watching American Pie & Road Trip and seem to be going through a real nostalgia for High School and the times associated with it at the moment. |
I think my favourite album of theirs is actually Your Favourite Weapon. It's not perfect. It's not trying to be technical brilliance or be pretentious. It's just some young guys writing angst filled songs about ex-girlfriends and broken hopes. I just resonate with it on so many levels. Not to mention it's shamelessly catchy.

I once read that a lot of the lines you'd think are about girls are about the lead guy from Taking Back Sunday.

Brand New is one of my favorites, but I kinda lost interest after 'God and the Devil are Raging Inside Me' .. that was an amazing recording. I like a couple songs on Daisy, but... they just changed too much. I'd love to hear them come out with something more like Deja again.

thats a good way of explaining it. even in terms of the band, i thought everything u said applies. YFW was that angsty uptempo basic chord stuff, then Deja was more mature and that album was the first time i felt like i knew what ppl meant when they said a bands album 'showed maturity'. then devil and god was such a different sound than i expected but it grew on me so quickly and i loved that album. i also loved the fght ff yr dmns leaked demos that came out before devil and god. if you havent heard them, please get on that immediately. very cool stuff Quote:

Saw them last night after they've been my favourite band for years.
Really ****ing good. So loud and energetic. They started off with a lot of distortion and droney noise and used it as a transition between songs and different eras of the band. They started with Shower Scene and moved onto Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades They hopped around all over their discography. The setlist is here Brand New Concert Setlist at Barrowlands, Glasgow on April 15, 2014 | setlist.fm Crowd cooled off a little in the middle when they played four songs from Daisy back to back, which has always been the dark, enigmatic album. But they went wild for the big tracks off of Deja. Jesse forgot the words during the performance of Millstone and had to start again, suppose it's been nearly 10 years since the album was released. Was hoping there'd be an indication of new material, it's been six years since Daisy, and nothing. No new music, at all. Odd. I went because I was under the impression that this may be their last tour. Nothing new in six years and cancellations of many gigs/festival appearances would point to internal problems but the band never let it show during their performance. One of the most breathtaking, pulsating life performances I've seen. The guy from Saves the Day (one of the support acts) said during their set that they are one of the best live bands to see, and he was right. They were incredible. Couldn't have asked for more (although I'd have split up the Daisy tracks and played Archers and Jude Law..) |
New song just released. And without any surprise, its fucking awesome. |
