I couldn't imagine "All Tomorrow's Parties" sung by Lou
When I think of Euro-decadent grandeur Marlene Dietrich comes to mind and not Nico!

What Euro-folk monotonal style! European folk doesn`t exist as such, as each European country and language has its own traditional type of folk music. For example Celtic based folk is going to be different to say Eastern European or Latin folk.

What is Teutonic about his voice! From the material I`ve heard by him, there is nothing Germanic sounding with his voice, he`s just a folk singer with a great range. He`s a Canadian Jew of Polish ancestory so I don`t see any Teutonic link there either, so I don`t see any real link to Nico. Other than they would`ve been influenced by each others music, which most of the big artists at that time were Dylan, Beatles, Beach Boys and Byrds etc.

I can see a link though between Nico and Nena with the song "99 Luftballoons" though, now that is Teutonic

If you want kitschy 80`s party pop with a German feel, it comes none better than Modern Talking and "Brother Louie"

Very much the same ballpark, as both bands are not really the kind of bands that most people would admit to liking.
