Yamataka Eye is my favorite male vocalist, and I don't think anything he does can be considered singing. All screams, and screeches.

Derek Shulman of Gentle Giant is one of my lease favorite singers... he makes GG sound like you're having a dinner at Medieval times.

Dylan can sing a hell of a lot better than knopfler. Dylan had a great voice, one of my favorite voices ever. I'll stand by it. I'll never be convinced that he "can't sing". Robert plant is one of the most overrated singers. How many times does someone need to say "ahh-ahh" or "baby-baby"? He's got one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard.

Singers that Can't Sing

1. Miranda Cosgrove
I think I saw her live on the Morning Show or something, and my eardrums committed suicide. I don't know why she decided to sing....she should stick to "acting" on crappy kids shows.
2. Ke$ha
90% of the time she isn't even doing what I would call singing.
3. Katy Perry
I agree, she sucks live.

That's all I can think of right now.

sopsych 01-03-2013 09:51 AM

Ke$ha can sing. Often she chooses not to, but solid ability is shown on, for example, the "while you're here in my arms" part of "Die Young."

Many people will disagree with me, but here are some famous singers who can't sing in my opinion:
James LaBrie - He can sing only one way (I mean only his style), when he does covers he sounds really bad.
Joe Elliot and Jon Bon Jovi - there are many more people that I could mention along with them. Almost every 80s rock singer sounds the same and doesn't sing something that hard or interesting. (I love those bands, especially Def Leppard, don't get me wrong).
Ozzy Osbourne - Although he has been mentioned already.
Mick Jagger - Although he is my favorite rock star of all time and the Rolling Stones are maybe my favorite band of all time, I'm not fooling myself, and admit that he can't sing that well, too.

Pursuingchange 01-04-2013 12:57 PM

Dare I say Kurt Cobain without getting flogged. I'm just not into his voice.

sopsych 01-04-2013 09:14 PM

True about Jagger, who seems to get a free pass. Bon Jovi is a decent singer. Joe Elliot has had vocal problems for decades.

That's a load of bollocks. Have you heard Angie live?

tygerlilyzz 01-05-2013 06:15 AM

here's a few that come to my mind: Beyonce-Rhianna-Britney Spears-these people are all perfect examples of how you don't have to be able to sing you just have to be really well marketed to be world famous

Vertigo 01-05-2013 06:31 AM

Robbie Williams. Yeah he's a bit of a showman but his vocals are utterly bland.

Paul McCartney. His live performances are all the evidence you need as to how much magic can be created in a recording studio.

Do you mean nowadays? He's 70 yrs old now so that'll explain why he sounds tough now...when he was younger he was a great singer. Listen to the original version of maybe I'm amazed.

I thought of that before. Jagger emotes well, but the vocal quality isn't good. That is where Stones music is vaguely country.

blastingas10 01-05-2013 10:19 AM

Watching Paul McCartney live has only shown me a couple things: 1. He can still rock the **** out. 2. He can still sing.

He was a great singer in his prime.

Nowadays. I'm not exactly a fan of his early stuff when, even then, I rate his vocals as nothing above average. But as for lately - the Olympic opening ceremony is all the proof I need to back up my statement.

Britney was the first 'singer' that crossed my mind when I read this topic. Rihanna sucks as well. But I disagree about Beyonce. Last thing I heard from her was a life performance of ''I was here'', and I was like:  and than

sopsych 01-07-2013 09:50 AM

Britney sang well on "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman." She got her start performing live. Whether she's been able to sing well since becoming a mom, having a breakdown, etc., I don't know.

LuckyLovexoxoxxx 01-07-2013 04:59 PM

i'd say
nicki minaj
britney spears
fergie
miley cyrus
chris brown
those are the ones that get on my nerves

sopsych 01-08-2013 10:03 AM

Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, and Fergie definitely can sing.

Wrong.

Fergie sings terribly live.

Zrocker 01-10-2013 08:25 PM

How about the whole genre of top 40 dance music who all sing through computers to correct their pitch.

Franco Pepe Kalle 01-10-2013 09:24 PM

there are two singers that can never and should never sing

Brittany Spears
Madonna

They both are great dancers and entertainers not singers let alone vocalists.

Because they have mouths.

Um. Because they can?

Does that work?

Their ability to do so?

Seriously dude whatever. I don't want to argue with someone that dismisses nearly 30 years of accomplishment from a tremendous artist such as Madonna.

You're right. They shouldn't sing.

Really you're right.

That's unsurprisingly rude.

Here is Fergie's voice being erratic during a live performance.

[ HD ] Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway Live NRJ Music Awards 2010 - YouTube

She does well enough on some parts. I figure it's related to improper use of her core muscles as she moves around.

Is it even possible for a 70 yr old to sing well?

Snowy Goat 01-14-2013 12:09 AM

miley cyrus deserves to be on this list
