oh yeah and realising this has veered off-topic but didn't the movie completely disregard the novel anyway with the twist at the end? Or did the novel have that too and i'm just going senile?

Who knows. Anyone who enjoyed the film should read the book regardless, i picked mine up on amazon for pittance. And then read Generation X

edit: the direct-to-video sequel stars William Shatner apparently *sigh*

By Douglas Coupland?

To bring up Tarantino again, there's another scene I like. In Jackie Brown, when Jackie introduces the bail-bondsman to the Delfonics.

I thought the whole joke was that he didn't know anyhting about music?

Tarantino's good at making weird conversations cool. It's in every movie of his I've seen. Maybe not Kill Bill, I can't remember it.

The book is a great satire on the excess of the 80s era...Ellis wrote it to piss everyone off including his publisher but it ended up being a big hit...The movie is good mostly due to Bale's perfromance but it has nothing on the book as Jackhammer said...The book is very tedious to read and captures OCD as well as a writer can to present to the reader. I found it almost impossible to put down and read it in about 4 hours...I need to read it again though.
