Tonight I've started exploring choral music, and was particularly intrigued by Russian Orthodox basso profundo - specifically works by The Orthodox Singers and The Tallis Scholars.

I compiled a 16-disc catalog including Peter Phillips' sacred choral works, the indispensable Orthodox Singers album, Moscow Choral's compilation, the English Baroque Soloists' recording of Bach's Mass in B Minor, and the Moscow Chamber Choir's Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, as well as the BBC Symphony and the Vienna Philharmonic's performances of Mozart's Requiem.

If you can suggest any other choral essentials, I'm all ears!

Have you heard Rachmaninoff's 'All-Night Vigil'?

I have only Rachmaninoff's piano works from this RCA Victor 78RPM box set -

But his choral works were off my radar. I'm enjoying the playlist; thank you!

After putting on some Devin Townsend's Ziltoid and saw someone comment about some song by some band...I looked it up.

I am intrigued...

I have their Plastic Life EP on my computer at home. I like most Lo Fi production angled rock. I haven't listened to them in awhile.

Couldn't agree more. I think bands like this often get dismissed as Garage acts with minimalist expectations, but they are fantastic albums with some real gems.

Listened to this album in its entirety the other day and its a fantastic album. Sure its got nods to the greats like Chuck Berry and it rips off other greats like Carl Perkins, but its damn good.
