Green Day - Before the Lobotomy

I don't really give a toss about Green Day, however I didn't mind American Idiot even if it wasnt something I really ever went back to, but I conceded and am listening to the new album now on Spotify.

So far it sounds as though the transition to a big, anthemic stadium rock sound is complete and it sounds a little pretentious. I'm only a few tracks in so won't judge it yet but it isn't doing much for me.

Dire Straits- On Every Street- simply a beautiful piece of music from the accompying sax to the outro riff- its a shame Dire Straits broke up after this record. :(
Love the alternate ending on this live version.

Also, heres the original album version

Pestilence-The Faceless

"A flourishing plague consumes the masses
Emaciated figures dying in the streets"

I dont know. Just have an odd obssession with horrible lyrics and sick songs.

Agreed, love that song! The verses are nice and the outro is killer .. :)

I'm listening to Beethoven's No. 6 at the moment by Renè Leibowitz conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

It is! I got this whole Beethoven cycle by Leibowitz quite a long time ago, but kinda rediscovered it today. Although I may not be the most qualified to do so, I also just wrote a review on it in my journal. If you're looking for recommendations on classical music, I can certainly recommend it!

Cool, I find it can get a bit boring at times though.
Did you see my post about Phillip Glass & Yehudi Meuhin?

Neil Young- Helpless (from Unplugged album)- I find this song incredibly moving; like most of Neil's early 70s work; it has a real heartbreaking, beautiful touch to it.

I just feel compelled to post the lyrics as well, I highlighted the lyrics which move me most:

There is a town in north ontario,
With dream comfort memory to spare,
And in my mind I still need a place to go
All my changes were there.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes
.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless
Baby can you hear me now?
The chains are locked and tied across the door,
Baby, sing with me somehow.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless.
