Yeah man, I love that album. Everything Toby touches is gold. Have you heard his new project Vaura?

He's the bassist in this new band. They're kind of a progressive black metalish post-rock project. Pretty good stuff.

I left my iPod charger at home whilst on holiday, you have no idea how grateful I am for ANY music, never mind Daft Punk

Good to hear! I'm quite a fan of them myself... If you're interested, here are some other experimental post-punk bands: Swell Maps, Pop Group, Public Image Limited, Chrome, Five or Six, The Raincoats, Dome, and (as I mentioned above) This Heat. Of course, all of them aren't really similar to Pere Ubu, but they're in the same vein (kind of).

Also: Captain Beefheart and The Red Krayola (two major influences on Pere Ubu) [/FONT]

Yeah, I usually listen to a lot of metal, but I'm in a mood where I just can't listen to it anymore for a while, so I'm trying to slowly work my way through a lot of proto-punk, post-punk, and early punk. Basically all the punk that doesn't fall into the punk stereotype. Oh, and I'd heard of Red Krayola while looking up Pere Ubu on Wikipedia and they sounded pretty fascinating, so I'll definitely have to give them a listen.

It's a crime that these guys never really got to record more. They sound like they had a pretty big influence on Wire and post-punk in general.
