I've never really understood metal that sounds like this. It's almost like it can't quite make up its mind to figure out what it wants to be.

I'm not saying that melodic elements in extreme metal can't ever work, but I would say that this particular attempt doesn't really grab me at all.

One of the most underrated bands of the 70's. Sadly only mostly known for Radar Love, but listen through their discography and you will find so much great stuff across different sounds. This is probably my favorite album from them, they can go from dreamy and atmospheric psych rock like Silver Ships to straight up heavy metal with The Road Swallowed Her Name. Plus, the bass sound is so massive, even on the mellow songs. Makes it sound so heavy, even when the music itself isn't.
