Nick Drake bores me senseless and I cannot stand the first Stone Roses album. Now that's not cliched choices.
Breaking Into Heaven might be one of my all-time favorite Roses' tracks, and I think John Squire got immeasurably better at guitar between the two albums. It's still a hard pick for me.

Personally I don't find Joy Division the least bit interesting & I think that Cream is downright awful. Shit, throw the Yardbirds in there as well and everything Clapton's done sans Derek and the Dominoes.

I agree about Cream. John Mayalls Bluesbreakers were a thousand times better. As for Stone Roses I am probably one of the only few to have that view (and almost certainly out of the British contingent).

While we are at it Neutral Milk Hotel are awful and with the exception of a couple of songs Rolling Stones suck too...oh and The Who!

I've never really seen much in Cream either.

I wouldn't say I flat-out hate them, but I've never really been a fan of Queen or Led Zep. I do like a few songs from both of them, but can't exactly see myself getting their albums anytime soon.

Oh, and I hate Wilco and Neutral Milk Hotel too.

I cut my teeth on the compilation of their early stuff which was just much more energetic and frayed, maybe you'd dig that? Still I can't imagine having gotten into them roasting in the perpetual sunlight of Texas (you can tell I've never been right?)

Until recently I'd have agreed with you on Cream and pretty much all wanky blues-rock, but I think Blue Cheer were the entry point into some of that sh*t. Power trio, stoned out, no nonsense. Not sure how that leads into Eric Clapton's gurning

There aren't really any bands I categorically hate that 'people' seem to enjoy (by people I'll take that to mean musicbanter and the smattering of 'real-life' folks who's opinion on music is informed enough to be worth a damn)... chances are if they are that adored by so many you can admire them for something, whether it be a knack for writing accessible songs or cornering the market on teenage angst.

I don't enjoy the vast majority of Pink Floyd's discography, I can't get into Porcupine Tree, I've put up a long fight against Tom Waits and most Nick Cave, and I grew up on the 'Head but they mainly just annoy me now. These could all be subject to change if I'm optimistic...

I have a question that has been bugging me I have to front,
what is with everyone's galloping obsession with Taylor Swift? I've only heard two of her singles, I believe, and I dismissed her music for the defecation I thought it was.

When I checked RYM, I noticed she was rated generously high- am I missing something or should I be giving this pop artist another chance?..

Nah, I've tried all Joy Division's albums, always seems like Ian Curtis is trying to suck the life out of the rest of the music. Kind of ironic, because I love JAMC and most other bands that spawned in their wake.

I forgot about Nick Cave. I don't have much patience for him, I admit I enjoyed the last Grinderman but apart from that there might be one or two songs of his that intrigue me. Not to mention Talking Heads. Like you I grew up on 'em, my father was a huge David Byrne fan for some reason or another but I just can't get past his characteristic whine.

By the 'Head I meant Radiohead, sorry ... Talking Heads I like up 'til Byrne starts steering things in the direction of his solo career, which I really can't get into. As you say it's the voice. Haha you'd love his last solo album, he does an aria with Rufus Wainwright

Me too. Their music is so boring it makes me want to break things. One of the most overrated bands of the past decade IMHO.

They have a couple songs I like but, yeah, overall I think they're an overrated and somewhat boring band.

Is lucifer_sam originally from Texas or something? I thought he was from Pittsburgh.
