Edgefest Toronto 2009
 

Who's going and who do you want to see the most?

I'm trying to go. I would really like to see AFI, Alexisonfire, Metric and possibly Billy Talent. I haven't heard of the other bands aside from The Midway State and Moneen and I don't really like them.

Not everyone on this forum who is from Canada is from Toronto, but I can't hold that against you, it's in your nature to think you're the center of the universe.

I'm not from Toronto and I'm still trying to go. I live 3 hours away.

I'm not going, but I love Alexisonfire and I really dig Billy Talent. Wouldn't mind seeing either band.

Love AOF, if im in B-LO ill be there.

I'm not really a fan of any of those bands. My doctor's son is the guitarist for Midway State though.

My friend is going and is trying to convince me to come but I don't know if I will.

Though I have been wanting to see Alexisonfire for a while and they aren't playing at the Toronto show for Warped. So it's a maybe.

I think I'm gonna go. I've got exams that week so I don't know if I will make it, but I really want to see Metric.

please don't tell me that the edge in edgefest stands for straight edge.

nope. it started in the late 90s as muchmusic's answer to the warped tour. i like how they never once went east of ontario (if it did it's long after i stopped paying attention). it's not like there are 5 other provinces on that side of the country...

the 'edge' was about being 'edgy' and 'alternative'.

Actually, it started in 1987. It's not related to Much Music - the edge is for Edge 102.1, the local "alternative" station.

I haven't been to Edgefest in years but I had a good time every time I went. Tool headlined in 2001!

my bad. i just remember the way MM portrayed it during the 90s as their answer to the warped tour.

Heh yeah, it's cool. I think I kinda remember that too - they had specials where Strombo went and interviewed bands there, yeah?

possibly, i had stopped watching by the time strombo became a regular. sook-yin lee and rick 'the temp' were the main talking heads for those events.
