What live performance changed your mind?

I want to ask which bands live performance completely changed your view on them.

For me it was Beck in the V festival a few years ago. I was forced to watch them and I didnt like them and I thought they were going to be absolutely terrible. I was surprised, they were fantastic, Musically maybe not but the theatrics of the performance was immense, my favourite being the part when they play the cuttlery. That was absolutely fantastic. So I got home and bought an album, I can say that I like Beck now, well kind of.

Worst performance has to be kulashaker singing hush or any hard fi.

I actually like a lot of Kula Shaker's, but their cover of hush? Ugh. Why?

I saw The Kovenant, a norwegian black metal/industrial metal act play at a festival in 2001. They burned a bible on stage and told us the inspiration behind their songs. F.ex they'd been touring in America and in every hotel room, there was a bible. "The hatred I felt because of that made me write this song" or "this song is dedicated to the world's biggest whore, the statue of liberty!".

There was a tiny group of fans sitting closest to the stage who were digging it. It seems everyone else were drinking beer, laughing and pointing. They did not give a good impression.

that sounds a bit mad!

Kula Shaker are awful live! Hush - deep purple version is brilliant, i liked the kula shaker version when it was released but once i heard it live i cant bring myself to appreciate it any more. It baffles me how some bands get big when they cant actually sing and it cant even be down to their show performance.

A band that I would love to see is Kiss. A proper performance which has everything.

I have seen Kiss three times...once in 1980(i was six), again in 1990 amd again in 2000...They were great all three times but not really life changing. Seeing Phish in the mid 90s was life changing at the time and I saw them 14 times...but although I still like them I am kind of over them...Seeing Radiohead in 1994 and Tool in 1993 and again in 2002 probably changed my life the most as both times I felt so in synche with the band and their music.

When I saw Atreyu live I was extremely impressed. They aren't a band that I listen to but I do have a great amount of respect for their stage performance and sound. They sounded great at the Quest Club in Minneapolis (worst PA system out of any venue in MN hands down) which isn't something many bands can do.

I hate to admit this, but I went w/ my gf to Jack Johnson and Alanis Morrisette, both against my better judgment and taste, but I have to say that I was extremely impressed with both shows. Hate if you would like, its just the truth.

I thought The Trews were just another boring Canadian rock band, then I saw them open for Robert Plant. They got the whole place going, it was awesome. Seen them a bunch of times since then, it's always a lot of fun.

I thought Muse were a pretty good band. Saw them live and immediately I thought they were one of the best bands in the world.

Davies86 05-04-2009 03:40 PM

i just thought kiss would just be a good band to see really. Zneergs proves a point that live performance can change your view quite drasticly.

I can imagine muse to be amazing to be fair!

I think im out of touch im not knowing some of these bands!
