Early Morning Music
What do you listen to to help yourself wake up in the morning?
Daft Punk, The Crystal Method, and some select Tool songs always do the trick for me. |
Usually some Reggae or ambient stuff. Nothing specific really.
|
I don't listen to a lot of either of those. The closest I get to ambient is Silent Hill Soundtrack stuff.
|
I did put some Miles Davis on the other day. If I'm in the house then it's usually the above but If i'm out and got the MP3 player on the go then it's always more upbeat but that could be metal, techno, dubstep, punk- anything really.
|
I used to have Pearl Jam's Once the remix from the rearviewmirror greatest hits, which just starts with the massive guitar bit as my alarm. That always got me up. Nowadays it's usually something a bit more folky or proggy to fit my tired mood.
|
usually when I wake up I'm not in the mood for metal. Say if I were looking for some good reggae aside from the obvious ones where would I look?
|
I usually leave on a trip hop mix while I sleep, however I think my favorite wake up song has gotta be "Good + Morning" by Amyas
|
Any Dylan or VU's first album. Beggars Banquet by the Stones is great too.
|
My alarm clock plays the verse to Ozzy's "No More Tears".
|
Sigor Ros always help me to wake up in a good mood for the day
|
Coheed and Cambria at the moment is always first in-line during the waking period.
|
I really like to listen to some of Cassino's acoustic sets... very relaxing and a good way to start the day.
|
as of now, this
such a good "Good Morning, Have a Nice Day" song |
On Sundays we used to turn the radio on to a weekly show "Breakfast with The Beatles". But I bought my girlfriend an iPod alarm clock a while back so she'll usually turn that on and skip through 100 tracks on shuffle before settling on something.
Today she put on New Order's "Blue Monday". |
My alarm is tuned to the 80's radio station, so I might get Pat Benetar's "Love is a Battlefield" one morning or some crap Phil Collins song the next. Usually it's annoying enough to force me out of bed to turn the alarm off. But in the car on the way to work, I always play something upbeat that I can sing and/or dance to to get me going. This past week it was my John Legend mixtape, the Angus and Julia Stone album I found out about from the SweetWolf thread, Freestylers another day and Bone Thugs and Harmony somewhere in there. Good times.

Because I fall asleep to music, I can't wake up to music because I just blends with whatever I sleep to. I have to stick with an alarm clock. |
I don't really listen to anything specific. It does have to be reasonably uptempo to get me in the mood for staying out of bed though.
|
I always listen to something nice and easy. Nick Drake is a great artist to listen to when having a nice lie-in :)
|
usually At the Drive-in, Cap'n Jazz, or Drive Like Jehu
|
reggae.... Its starts the day off in a good mood.

there is no damn early morning music, it's all about playing metalcore and eminem as soon as i get out of bed. I even listen to music when i shower.

If its early morning after an all-nighter though, like the 5 am stupor, I put on King Crimson's "Island" album. |
To get my day started off right I listen to
Can't You See - Marshall Tucker Band Nothing says good morning like that flute bit at the beginning. Always gets me in a good mood never fail. |

could be a combination of both. a lot of people around here don't really like Southern rock to begin with, so i suppose that hurts their chances a bit. i only have their first four albums but i think they're all fairly good. still searching for the best one though.
that's definitely an awesome song though, i like quite a few off Where We All Belong as well. |
YouTube - Suicide - Cheree I like playing Cheree by Suicide in the mornings.

That's terrifying |

Terrifying? I think it's dreamy and hazy sounding which is why I like it for the morning. Have you ever heard their song Frankie Teardrop? That's the song that scares me. |
