Embarassing Interpretations Of Song Lyrics.

Here we have a thread to unveil your most embarassing moments when it comes to trying to make out certain song lyrics.
I have quite a few, but the most recent one I can think of is Dire Straits' 'Money For Nothing'. I used to think, up until about a week or so ago, that the chorus line 'Money For Nothing, Chicks For Free' as actually 'Cheques' for free .

Let us hear yours (I may post more when I remember them).

I used to think that the Steve Miller Band song "Jet Air Liner" lyrics for the chorus were: "Chain me up and lie down" instead of "Big ol' jet air liner". I have no idea how I managed to hear that, but I sung it that way for many years before someone corrected me.

Macy Gray's I Try

Though I try to hide it it's clear
My world crumbles when you are not near

I thought the last bit was 'i wear goggles when you are not near'.

Haha, so random. For me I've always had to look up the lyrics before I even attempted to sing along.

Awesome. They've been chronicaling this stuff for years.
My mom is a gimungous Eric Clapton fan and listened to his greatest hits album in the car a lot. One day I asked her what cocaine was (cuz I heard it in the song). She told me I heard it wrong, the song was about "pain", there was just an extra syllable. Was young and impressionable. Confused me for years.

I love Clapton, probably because Ive had his Unplugged album since I was about 12 or 13 lol. Thats hilarious about the Cocaine lyrics, your mother was only looking out for you though but youre right, they tell ****ing lies! As if Santa Claus & the Tooth Fairy falling through wasnt bad enough. :(

Oh f*ck. Some really embarassing karaoke memories from the past (I must emphasise) involving this song come to mind, which i will choose not to share with you for personal reasons.
Shiit, all my bad karaoke memories are coming back to me, another involving Robson & Jerome which I will also not say any more about...

As for the lyrics, I had to look them up (at the time)..

I used to think that in the chorus to Aneurysm, Kurt was singing "Pee pee over me".

When I heard R.E.M.'s The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight for the first time, I thought the chorus went:

Comanche Indians, Comanche Indians!

as opposed to:

Call me when you try to wake her up, call me when you try to wake her

Also, while I have this chance I shall declare this the best ZZ Top song of all time, from 1994's 'Antenna':

When I was a kid I thought the chorus to 'Tiny Dancer' went, "Hold me closer Tony Danza"

Beastie Boys- "Intergalactic"

I could have sworn he was saying "Like a pencil in the neck from Mr. Spock" instead of "Like a pinch in the neck from Mr. Spock." I was mocked by a Trekkie of all people for that one.

The Bee Gees - How Deep is Your Love

For the lyric "and you came to me on a summer breeze" I used to hear "and you came to me on a submarine" and I'd sang it out with all this passion.
