But I don't like the band.
Ditto.

I adore "Soundtracks for the Blind" by Swans, but I'm yet to find another album of theirs that can do anything for me.

That's weird. They have several albums that are fairly similar stylistically to SFTB and, IMHO, they're all somewhat better albums than it. The one's I'm talking about, in case you haven't heard them, are:

Love Of Life (my favorite Swans album)
The Great Annihilator
White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity
Die Tur Ist Zu

I'll give "Love of Life" a shot later on. As long as it's nothing like "Filth"!

I agree, I generally have intense dislike for Billy Corgan and all of his crap but I really dug that album for a long time when it came out.

You'll be happy to know it's nothing at all like Filth. If anything it has a somewhat folky thing going on. I would also recommend checking out Die Tur Ist Zu, if you haven't already, since I believe it was recorded during the same sessions of Soundtracks for the Blind and basically sounds like a continuation of that album.

Discovery-Daft Punk
Everything before and after this just annoys me, but something about this record does it for me.

Homework is brilliant, IMO their best album. Personally I think Discovery is their weakest.

Have you ever listened to Alive 2007? It's tremendous.

This coming from someone who's not into any other electronic or techno music whatsoever.

Daft Punk are overrated. I liked Homework (though definitely repetitive, it helped get me into dance music) but when the song 'One More Time' from their 2nd album came out it was enough for me stop listening to them. Seriously, that song is absolutely terrible.

Though it's fair to say that even though I listen to a shit-ton of electronic music, party music generally doesn't do it for me. Even during my house & clubbing days, I liked some party-ish music, but Daft Punk just seems so mainstream to me...to lowest common denominator, the stuff everybody likes. The kind of people that say "yeah I listen to everything". I respect them more than some other mainstream electronic acts, but that doesn't mean they're not overrated.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Damn, I knew I had an unpopular music opinion. You nailed it. For a while I thought I was the only person who was kind of blah about Daft Punk.

The Killers - Hot Fuss

The bass line to 'Jenny Was a Friend of Mine' is simple bliss. 'Andy You're a Star' and most of the singles are groovy too...
