I need help choosing a love song!

Ok, I know this is cheesey, but I really need to learn a beautiful love song for my wedding. I know how to play basic guitar (as taught to me by my rocker fiancee), and I really want to impress him by playing a song for him at our wedding. It's really hard to find the right song because I am kind of an indie girl and I don't want to do anything too corny. I just don't know where to start to find a song that would be a good fit. I was thinking about learning "love" by john lennon. Something with a slight rock edge but really sweet and aimed at another person. A love song really sung to his/her lover.. Something by a female artist would be a good fit for me (since i'm a girl), and something that is doable on acoustic guitar. Don't know if you guys have any ideas out there, but I need help! Thanks a million!

You could try something like this:

I can help you arrange it if you would like.

Just kidding, of course, but I would seriously suggest a song called "You Are the Everything" by R.E.M., from the 1988 album "Green". Private message me if you would like an upload of the song. It's really moving and deep stuff, despite a title that might seem cheesy at first glance. Check out the first verse here:

Code:

Sometimes I feel like I can't even sing (say, say, the light)
I'm very scared for this world
I'm very scared for me (say, say, the light)
Eviscerate your memory
Here's a scene
You're in the back seat laying down (say, say, the light)
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine (say, say, the light)
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn't end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The stars are the greatest thing you've ever seen
And they're there for you
For you alone you are the everything

Like I said, great great lyrics here. And a beautiful melody. Here's a link to the song, just click the play button.

Cheers, and I hope this works out. I love the song a lot.

how about 'luna' by the smashing pumpkins. the slow acoustic track that closes off 'siamese dream'. easy enough to play as a solo acoustic piece, lends itself well to either gender, and you get a good dozen 'so in loves' for most of the last half of the tune.

*edit* slayer is ALWAYS acceptable wedding music too haha

Also, in the second verse of "You Are the Everything", there's a very sweet segment about a girl who makes the singer "See the beauty of the Light of Music". This could easily be changed to a man, and the results would look like this:

Code:

Everything is beautiful
And [he] is so beautiful (say, say, the light)
[he] is so young and old
I look at [him] and I see the beauty (say, say, the light)
Of the light of music... etc.

A good one I think would be When I Get Up by Tegan and Sara, it's simple but beautiful, not really edgy but sweet and touching and by a female singer.

I love this song as a 'love' song and I don't think it's too cheesy.
