what i was trying to say was that most people wouldn't know the difference between that style of playing and a person who couldn't play, but in the video you can see he has technique that he apparently improvises with. Was straying off topic a bit though =/
Like you said that is pure dissonance, and you have to wonder if anybody could (honestly) appreciate that on a non-'intellectual' level, actually enjoy it rather than analyze it

I guess you have a good point there. I don't ever see myself listening to Derek Bailey or La Monte Young and be able enjoy it empty minded, but that's what I like about dissonance in a concentrated form... it's challenging and I'm forced to take notice.
