What.cd and Invites

The stupid search wouldn't let me look for it so hopefully we don't have a thread on this already.

I'm looking to get in on What.cd. Super secret and from what I hear super good music sharing.

Does anybody use this already? If so... if there is something I can do to appease you so that you might invite me :yeah:

well i dont have an account but try this out

Get an Official What.cd Invite Without Knowing Anyone | Bukisa.com

idk if it will work but its the only thing i can find

music_phantom13 12-03-2009 05:37 PM

I wish I knew someone with an invite... to be honest, it seems far far far too much work to actually try to learn all of that. I rarely ever have something that I can't find with a bit of searching, I'd rather do that than learn all of the information. That said, it would be really cool if the Music Banter community could get one new member in. Then they could offer invites to their favorite members (not sure how the invites work but I imagine this would work) and they could invite more, etc. It would be really cool, but I doubt it'll happen :(

i never heard of the website, whats it got?

music_phantom13 12-03-2009 05:42 PM

Well from what I hear just about everything. A bunch of audiophiles that are as crazy about music as the craziest members on here, I'm guessing.

I'm on it but was never awarded any invites to hand out.

The reason I don't use it much is because of the high standards they have for what you can share. Files have to be encoded a certain way, using specific software, etc. Quality control, which is good for the content, but can be a pita if you're not already ripping your music this way.

I guess other invite-only sites probably have the same kind of rules, I don't know. This is the only one I've ever been on.

I remember having a discussion about this with somebody already...

Anyway, I'm on What.Cd but I don't have any invites. Sorry :(

I share the account with my brother who is a quality nazi so I don't have any problems with sharing music of that standard. It's a fantastic site really so... good luck :S

Yeah, I'm on but no invites left.

It's easily the most difficult torrent based site to actually keep up a good ratio, not that I ever bother.

jackhammer 12-04-2009 04:23 AM

There is rarely anything I can't find anyhow so it seems like too much of a pain in the arse TBH and when I want the best quality then I buy the bloody CD anyhow!

alliteration 12-04-2009 04:46 AM

Its actually pretty easy to have a ratio there, at least I think so. I currently have 10 invites and I always get a few every month. Anyhow, I'm not keen on giving them out here because I don't know any of you and you can get me royally screwed there, so you'll have to have proof that you carry a good ratio on other private trackers first. Normally I wouldn't care, but they're very strict about invites and I really don't want to lose my account, and seeing how someone else I invited on the internet already got banned, I don't have much slack.
