Wow you are really harsh on the Irish-Americans.
US foreign policy - that's the government and the oligarchy, the rich businessmen, who run America.
To me Joseph Kennedy is a was hero in his own right. I never found fault with Robert Kennedy, he was gun down in cold blood. OK JFK had some faults but I can't say that he caused the Viet Nam personally; I can't find the slightest bit of fault except for not stand up firmly standing against the planned assignation of Ngo Dihn Diem, I can't say I blame him for the Veit Nam War, the wheels were turning long before he became president and I don't see why JFK is blamed and not France.
I thought The name of the Read Kennedy was something glib, taboo, and irreverent; I didn't see it as anti-American politcal commentary.

I have always taken the name as a veiled reference to the fact that it was the CIA (our own government or rogue element thereof) that was behind the assassinations of JFK and RFK (as opposed to the "lone nut" cover stories). When you look at the name of the band through that lens, you see the kind of statement they were trying to make.

OK I kinda understand with what you pointed out.
