When I say that something is over-produced, what I mean is that it sounds like it has no depth, no texture, no personality, because every instrument is loud and polished until it shines. It's a craftedness that comes at the cost of being interesting.

All my favorites along with Kanye.

That's what I love about music though. I love that crisp clean studio extra polished sound.

Also part of the reason why it took me so long to even bother going to a concert. I really don't like live/raw sounding music. I rather listen to most artists/bands music on a nicely polished album.

I think I understand what people mean when they use it, but really would the below list be better if they had a "rawer" sound?

idk I don't really think the production robs the music of its soul either but eh

I could see Evanescence being listenable.

Can't deny that that chorus isn't great, but otherwise who cares?

The xx - I See You (2017)
I was a fan of their debut, its sparseness and modesty appealed to me for some reason. This album however is underwhelmingly boring and inoffensive. It really needs something extra, like Jamie xx radically remixing it and screwing with the arrangements or something. Instead we get dreary easily listening music. Just give us something interesting!
