A lot of these bands are still actively recording new music so I don't know if comps for them are warranted yet.

I could put a Rage comp together, but is it really necessary? I would just say get your hands on the self-titled debut and go from there. I would be tempted to make the beginner's guide 75% self-titled anyways...
