Angry Ticket Surcharges

Call me old school. I have stopped purchasing tickets to see performers because of the greedy ticket sellers fees. Has anyone pay any attention to see what the percentage of your ticket cost goes to the surcharge fees?
These fees are increasing and are really becoming a problem in my opinion.
I am also frustrated by scalpers who purchase tons of tickets preventing legitimate folks from enjoying some great shows.

For example, I see on craigslist Austin - 6 commemorative ACL passes for sale. How can someone get six $50.00 passes legitimately?

Also, Neil Young $59.00 tickets were sold out in Austin before I could even have a chance – Tickets went on sale at noon, I was on the internet and phone at 12:01. No tickets were available at that price point.
Many were on sale on craigslist shortly there after however. I could tell by the seats they were advertising.

I wish venues sold their own tickets like the old days.

They do. You need to go to smaller venues.

You must be too young to know how tickets used to be purchased. It is the all of the greed that really bothers me.

Well, I don't know. I'm 33, is that too young? I'm still able to buy tickets at the box office of the venues I go to in 2010. No surcharges. No Ticketmaster. How old are you? Tell me about how you used to purchase tickets in the good old days.

Nothing additional to comment on. No one gets it. I guess what I see here is the true dumbing down of America.

So you aren't going to answer my questions then? I'm honestly curious about what you have to say because it seems to me that you were the one not getting what I was saying.

great. another educator.

who's the real greedy one? the acts that require $100 a ticket to offset the costs of ostentatious presentations? or the fans that want shows to go back to $5 dollar doors and $2 beers?

the simple matter is - if you want the big arena event now, you're going to have to pay the big arena price. my generation isn't the one who encouraged The Eagles and their ilk to keep milking the masses for everything they had.

and don't act like scalping tickets isn't old school as hell too.

That's the way it is these days. Buck up and pay for the tickets if you want to go. Or better yet, go see lesser known bands in smaller venues or clubs for a lot less money and often times a better show.

surcharges do suck have you ever gotton the ticketmaster surcharge and a facility fee
i try to avoid extra cost as often as possible i have a sister who works at the Target Center box office thats great i save money with no charges plus i get tiks before anyone else wherever i want in the arena sometimes she gets me comps.
otherwise buying directly from the venue in most ccases will save you charges i just drove to the UofM campus to buy my Neil Young tiks and saved $50 on 5
