Preserving music memorabillia?

How do you preserve any precious music items? Like signed things, etc?
This is probably a silly thread, but the main reason I ask is because I have a postcard (lol) with a lovely message from Paul Cusick. It's not worth that much, as it is personal message, and is only a post card. But it has significant sentimental value for me to want to preserve it (not have it fade, corners scuffed, etc).

Is laminating a good or bad idea?

So, what do you guys do with your stuff?

i wouldn't laminate.

check out sports memorabilia stores, the kind of place that still deals with trading cards. they would have proper storage devices for things like that. for a postcard i'm thinking you'll probably end up with two of pieces of plexiglass and some screws.

problem is we don't actually have any stores like that. I live in quite a small town...

is there a hardware store? it's still not that hard to find a couple of pieces of plexiglass and drilling a couple of screws into the corners. ultimately all you'd be doing is bolting your postcard between two sheets of clear plastic. it's enough to protect it from just about anything aside from fading (just keep it out of direct sunlight).

That's not a bad idea. I'll have to have a look next time I'm near the store.

How much do they typically cost?

Just put it in a hardback photo album.
