Post Removed?

Hello,

It looks like something I posted was removed - probably because it looked like spam (and admittedly I was worried about that).

Can a mod tell me what it was that was the problem?

I'd like to post the same question (for a blogger to affiliate with). But I felt that I had to speak about the software at least a little otherwise I wasn't going to get a response.

Please, I don't want to argue about what you guys accept and what you won't accept. I just want to know what I can and can't say so I can attempt to ask the same question. Perhaps the question itself is the problem?

Basically, we don't allow you to promote your product, company, music, etc. It was removed because it is spam. If we allowed every new member to advertise anything, the forum would be crawling with annoying spam. Without spam, the forum is more enjoyable to regular contributing members. This is also the reason why a link to your website was removed by a moderator.

Advertising and Promotions:

ALL FORMS OF ADVERTISING ON MUSIC BANTER ARE NOT ALLOWED

We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds or donations. Advertising in signatures is also prohibited. This includes but is not limited to
promotion of bands, websites, record labels, affiliate links, contests, surveys and youtube channels...

Making an account for the sole purpose of spamming to obtain 15 posts enabling the user to post a link for advertising, or promotional purposes, is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate perma-ban. All previous account posts will be deleted.

And if you're worried if something might be considered spam, I suggest you don't post it, because it most likely is and it will be deleted, and if you keep posting what we consider to be spam, you will be banned.

Yeah, I understand that. So... can I ask about finding music bloggers that would be interested in advertising my software on their webpage - if I don't mention my product?

I'm with you on the fight against spam I guess I misunderstood how big of a problem it really is for you guys (forums in general really).

If I saw you post in a thread that you were looking for people to advertise a product on their blogs, I would not allow it. We want people who join our community to do so because they want to be part of it, not because they want to use our community for something. If you're just here to recruit advertisers for a product, then you are not looking to participate, but merely attempting to use our community for your (and not our) benefit.

So in answer to your question, I would say no, you can't use musicbanter as a place to recruit people to advertise for you.

Good to know. I never looked at it that way. I was intending to pay the advertisers so in my head it helps them too. -- But, I can see how that still doesn't really mean that it helps the community.

Anyway, thanks for you time. It's seriously a big problem for me. I feel pretty blocked because off-topic spammers have ruined forums. And highly paid SEO advertising means little guys can't get placed by Google. This last 3 months have been a wake up call for me to realize that the web isn't as decentralized and open as I thought it was. :/

Sorry, I quit whining. I'm NOT looking for pity, just surprised and frustrated. I'd love to try to become part of the community. I'm a music lover both in creating and devouring, but I just have too many things pulling on my time...

I understand where you are coming from, however. And
My advice to you is to contact music bloggers directly, they usually have their own emai adresses listed on their website. Be informal and loose, but not sloppy and unprofessional. Basically, they need to know that there is a human being on the other side of the email. If you don't get responses then try again in a month or two. Hope this helps, good looking out.

We have allowed some advertising, for example advertisement for radio shows or blogs, but that was from people who were already members and contributors to our community. For example; they posted, had friends here, wrote album reviews and other kind of work, participated in community related going ons and generally added positively to the site and community. So, before they advertised any off-site projects, they earned the privilege to do so. If you would like to promote your own projects here, that's what you should do first.

When we have allowed advertisement, it's usually been in the shape of a link in the signature.
