Default CDs versus Downloads

We love music, but do we care about the quality of the recording? I would imagine most people download their music at this point, but I don't know the stats. But downloads are compressed. Many people claim they can hear the compression and it sounds degraded compared to the CD version which typically contains 5 to 10 times more data.

I'm willing to pay for CDs until downloads equal CD resolution... Thoughts?
