The RIAA Took My Baby Away

I saw this on a webpage:

The RIAA's lost profit claims are labeled silly by judge, and the judge also denies the RIAA the ability to subpoena ISPs for subscriber info. Let the downloads commence. Some good news for you downloaders :)

It has always been illegal for ISPs to be given a subpoena. I think this is a great thing, because it allows them to protect the privacy rights of their customers. However, they shouldn't completely turn the other way when people are doing illegal transfers through their ISP. As far as the judge throwing out the RIAA's lost profit claim, that's very interesting. What's the link to the website?

That's actually not true. You can definitely get into trouble for just having it on your computer and sharing it over KaZaA or something similar. RIAA just busted about 260 people in the last month for that offense.

The only thing wrong with that is they would have no way to find out if you burn it on a cd and sell it, unless they have undercover burnt cd buyers like they do drug buyers/sellers. lol.

She may be referring to some of the big CD copying operations. I remember reading about a whole warehouse that got busted about a month ago. Their operation was pulling in like 20 million a year on illegal CDs.

Yea, that could be, I think the RIAA are just a bunch of cry-babies..

OzzieJess 12-21-2003 10:11 PM

so what u do is burn it all to cd's n hide the cd's n get it off ya computer then they have no proof
