Mood Inspired Music
Generally I think people base what they listen to at a particular time on the mood they are in. I do this all the time. Post a song that describes your mood right now. It doesn't have to be lyrically associated but the general sound and feeling it creates inside you. :)

But later tonight I am going to catch up with a good friend I haven't seen in far too long and watch his new band's first gig so all we be better and less angry soon. |
Im pretty annoyed and angry at the moment. Also I miss my friend who lives back in my old hometown so here is some grindcore made by him.
|
Pretty self explanatory. |

I'm such an emotional basket case when left unchecked. And its impossible to predict whether it's the mighty highs or the lowly lows that accompanies such occasions. The song is a leeetle bit cheesy at times, but I love the voice. Good cover :). Quote:

Well you had to steal my band but...
I tend to find that I can usually find a song by them that fits my mood the majority of the time. |
I don't know how the **** I feel right now. Confused, Dizzy, Light Headed, Tired,

Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones are very mood inspired.
YouTube - rolling stones - under my thumb |
Free Bird is peerless in getting me up and about, that & Whiskey in the Jar by Lizzy.
Soulsavers I think are also very atmospheric and easily one of the most mood altering out there, on many levels. |

been driving around keeping this mood |

It's really sad, I know. I was in this mood a couple of nights ago and it just hasn't left me. The lyrics are simple, but strong. I feel it needs no more explanation. |
If I need an energy jolt and a blast of bass:
When I'm feeling melancholy (never has a brass band sounded so perfect for a song especially considering it's subject matter): When I want to hear a church organ: |
I love that prodigy song! I hadn't even heard it before, so getting a hold of it!

Here is an edited version unfortunately missing a lot of the Brass outro but still beautiful to watch. That woman could sing the phone book and make it sound stunning. |

I don't know if there's a moodless song. I'll let you know if I find one. |
Some mornings, when I'm not totally awake yet, and with one of those "psychotropic sunrises" we have here (I can testify to that), I'm in a daze. And the mood is like...
...and finally like a mere wishful thinking, because reality and the harsh facts come... :( |
This song is complete and utter hopelessness. I didn't pick up on it at first but I was going through Le Tigre's discog today and this was the least happy song on it. It stuck with me. |
A Band for a mood
idk about you guys but i listen to bands according on my mood..
don't get me wrong, that's not the only criteria they also have to be good lol like for instance, sometimes i just want to listen to Mellow stuff to relax abit.. in those times my go to bands are : GBV (Guided by voices) The Smiths Frank Black & the catholics Fionna apple Elliot smith When im in my "Hardcore" mood, i don't really listen to metal per se, just bands that pump me up The Misfits SOAD NOFX Bad religion Now, for my Wacky moods, which is like my default mood.. i like bands that are strange but sound good.. bands that have and undertone of being non-sensical but fun The Pixies They might be giants Of Montreal Deer hoof Melt banana Sonic youth How bout you ppl? :) |
A few days ago I saw this song in a magazine article entitled "50 Songs to Cheer You Up." All of the other songs on the list made sense, so maybe I'm taking these lyrics too literally.
Maybe I'm wrong, but for me, too much Radiohead can be somewhat depressing. Radiohead - No Surprises - YouTube |

But i think it's my fav radiohead song (My video is sadder than your Jackhammer :bringit:) lolol |
Right now, I feel like this:
|
|
Confusion, a lamentation upon the human condition, celebrity, etc. etc.
|
"Into the Groove" by Madonna and "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones are effective mood lifters.
