Actually, "shambling wreck of an album" is taken from an AllMusic review that deservedly gave it 5/5. http://www.allmusic.com/album/thirds...s-r1880/review |
Seriously THE version for me. Very powerful stuff! |

Speaking of Hendrix, he's also done a definitive version of this...

Not as classic as Hendrix's version, but kind of close...
Never really got into the fast version, made famous by The Leaves (too tinny). The Byrds did a sloppy album-filler version (my opinion) although Love did do a great fast one. In the capture pic, the short hair was producer Brian Ross. Sean is on the right side of Ross (in hat) while to the left is soon to be mega producer Keith Olsen. |

A cover that made a lousy song great?
I was listening to Jimi Hendrix "All along the watchtower" and then listend to Dylan's version. Hendrix won big time for me!!! So i thought is there a chance that a cover can take a lousy song and make it a great song (my example is not so good since Dylan song is not lousy...) ? Couldn't find any, do you have some?

Not a lousy original, but I always loved the cover that a band called The Rogers Sisters did of the song 'Object' by The Cure. Far more energetic and pop-punky
