I can't think of any jazz song with vocals I like right now.
Yeah, some louis armstrong coming from an old wind-up grammophone is fun. But apart from that? |
Manhattan Transfer?

I much prefer having words if I want to join in - like in the car and I want to sing along
but if it's background music i'm happy regardless of words or not :=-) |
some songs work with vocals, some songs don't, if you want my 2 cents

Dude, try to learn an instrument! Let's say a guitar, or the drums, even the piano. Once you see the beauty of playing and the complexity of it you'll start to realize that some of the most beautiful songs ever are mostly instrumental.

i usually prefer instrumentals to songs with lyrics. A lot of the time words just get in the way of beautiful musical passages. And it dosen't have to be classical or jazz either. If you want some really moving rock instrumentals, try listening to Ozric Tentacles or Acid Mothers Temple.

Some jazz vocals can be too sentimental and drag out the music too much. You find that the original versions of some songs covered in the 50s and later were originally much quicker in tempo.

I cna get into some fully instrumental albums such as stuff like Lightning Bolt, Hella, or 65daysofstatic but most of the time its pretty hard..
if there's an instrumental trck on album by a band i already really liek its not as much of a biggie. here's a favorite |
