Favourite music movement
whats your favourite movement in the history of music? is it the 70s punk boom? the brit pop era? the flower power years? state your favourite and give constructive reasons why.
personally, for me its definetly the flower power. i love the psychedelic music that accompanied this era and the way it completely warps you. im a fan of the hippy idealisms and general aura that goes with the late 60s. the music is so experimental and progressive which is good because i like to see artists pushing the boundaries of what can be done with instruments and in the studio. so, yours? |
i like bits and pieces of alot of the music movements (the ones that come to mind immediately are the early 20th century jazz movement, the 70s-80s punk movements), everything up to recent years, like the dreadful rap/metal craze and the recent plague of new wave indie pop/rock bands. The latter part of the hip hop movement ticks me off too.

i like the recent wave of garage rock

Yes I like the "garage rock" movement if that can be classified as a movement because the proto-punk bands that first started doing this created controversy with their lyrics and weren't afraid to stand for them, even if they got booted off of their record labels. I think this would stand for quite a few garage rock bands today as well.

i just like raw energy and simplicity of it

I don`t really like any movement as such , they all go stale after a year or so. The best bands stick around & move on, the also rans die out.
Then it`s time to go on to the next one |
I don't have a faveourite movement either. I like a lot of african music, jazz 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, right up until 90s britpop. Not that I think music became **** after that but most of what's popular is. Most of what I listen to from late-90s till now is a bunch of low-fi indie/folk sorta stuff, Delgados, Antony & The Johnsons etc ect. I find myself listening to a lot of older music, waay more often than current stuff. Maybe I'd have done that too if I lived in the 60s or 70s but I'm not convinced. I'm pretty sure its because the current movement consists of everybody and their dog forming a carbon copy poseur indie or girl/boy band.

I'll go with the last bowel movement I had. It was quite musical.

I think mine would have to be the whole hair metal period, it produced my fave band motley crue which is why i love it so. Alot of great music from then is now in my collection, even G'N'R qualify for that period!
